5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another cold week with some snow and sleet, and the odd slight overnight frost, but fishing conditions were very good with excellent water clarity.   The fish were generally around 3 to 4 feet down and for much of the week were to be found in the channel in front of the island although towards the end of the week they moved out a bit and were being taken at the Dam and overflow and also in the far bay.   Small lures, such as Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Humungus and various Fritz patterns fished on an intermediate line with a slow retrieve was the most common tactic, although some anglers were having success retrieving Buzzers, Bloodworm and the odd nymph.   Several superb Browns were caught and released this week including one estimated at 6lb.     Blues and Golds also figure in the catch returns.   Several anglers are commenting on the excellent condition of the fish and the superb fight they are giving. The Fishery is open every day from 8.00am to 5.00pm.
