3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Changeable weather conditions again made presentation difficult on several days but for those who chose the right day, or managed to master the conditions, the rewards were worth the effort. Water-levels and clarity are now almost perfect. On the Boathouse Pool, Jock Leslie took top honours returning 20 fish, taken on Dries and Buzzers. Mr. Wallace took four rainbows for a total of 13lbs. Mr. Burnett returned 13 and Mr. Woods 12. Black or dark olive Buzzers were very productive as were small dry fly patterns e.g. Shipman’s and the Yellow Owl. There has been a lot of surface activity on the Burnside Pool with Dries and Buzzers again being the preferred approach, especially fished on the “washing line” method. Buzzers or bugs beneath a “bung” have also done well. Fish of the week was a superb rainbow estimated at 11lbs+ taken on a Cat Bug beneath a “bung” and returned by Gordon Matthews. George Birse returned 20; Mr. McLearean returned 18 and Mr. Leslie 15. Dries performed well again on the Bankside Pool with Richard Marshall returning 12 and Frank Sherriff returning 11. A couple of very large fish were lost on the pool this week. The any legal method pool, Woodside, had an up and down week but Powerbait fished beneath a float was still the most productive method. On Tuesday ten anglers caught 22 fish for a total of 38lbs.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) There was some spectacular catch and release bags last week with Tom Russell Snr and Jnr from Earlston sharing a bag of 31 to Buzzers. John Daly from Edinburgh had 19 on Buzzers, A Glasgow, Edinburgh, 15 on the Yellow Owl, Joe Beattie, Edinburgh, 15 on a CDC and Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh used Bloodworm to catch 8. Gordon Dagg from Pathead had 6 on Dries.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Most of the week fish were in the top 2 feet with a good number of big fish being caught and many anglers reporting having lost decent sized trout.  The more overcast days earlier in the week saw great action for the Browns with wets, nymphs, buzzers and dries taking fish close to the surface. The weekend saw rising temperatures, sun and some strong wind resulting in fish going deeper and intermediate lines and lures became more effective.  Some evenings have been very productive with fantastic rises if the conditions are right.
Frank Barr, Falkirk, 3 for 13lb including a 7lb 7oz Rainbow plus 5 caught and released, Carlo Pezzani, Tullibody, 3 for 12lb including a 7lb 12oz Rainbow, Alan Whitton, Stirling, 4 for 14lb 8oz including 3 Browns, one at 6lb 4oz, Willie Nyguist, Stirling, 4 for 11lb 8oz including a 3lb 8oz Brown and Rab McCallum, Bannockburn, 2 for 9lb 4oz including 6lb 12oz Rainbow. Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 10lb 8oz, Kyle Crossan, Stirling, 3 for 11lb including 2 Browns, George Dobbie, Glasgow, 3 for 9lb, Barry Hamilton, Muirhead, 3 for 8lb 8oz and Jim Craig, Balloch, 3 Browns for 8lb. Robert Park, Glasgow, 3 for 8lb, Connor Meiklejohn, Stirling, caught and released 11, Brian Lockie, Alva, caught and released 8 from his float tube, Brian Scullion, Glasgow, caught and released 8 and Liam Mullin, Pitlochry, caught and released 7.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) There are lots of fish on the surface these days gorging on caenis, especially in the evenings, brilliant to watch and those fishing with small CDC’s are doing really well. Mark Gemmell 3 for 8lbs, Mr Carling 1 for 5lb, Jamie Wilson, 9 C/R – biggest 7lb, Mr Reed 3 for 10lb – best 5lbs and Graham Wilson had a brace weighing 7lbs. Ian Anderson 12 C/R, W.
